Interview with the Vampire lives to see another sunset!
After months of questioning whether AMC (a network notorious for never letting series die) would really cancel the best show on TV, the network finally put fans out of their misery with the announcement that Interview with the Vampire would return for Season 3.
Alongside the renewal, AMC confirms that Season 3 will continue chronologically with Anne Rice’s books chronologically as the Vampire Lestat “sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can — by starting a band and going on tour. “

Yes, after finding out Louis had Daniel write a scandalous book about their torrent love affair, Lestat gets back at him by starting a band and climbing the music charts — which is quite possibly the most Lestat thing Lestat has ever done.
Now that Daniel’s interview with Louis has concluded, the series will change narrators and explore the Immortal Universe from Lestat’s perspective for the first time. The lead change will undoubtedly lead Lestat to contradict a few plot points from Louis’ version of events while exploring his backstory and ancient vampiric bloodline.
According to AMC’s press release, Sam Reid’s Lestat will be joined by “Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept” with returning characters “Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed, and others we can’t tell you about yet.”
The third installment of this series is also advertised as “a sexy pilgrimage across space, time, and trauma. No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”

President of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, Dan McDermott, confirmed the series had surpassed their expectations for what could be accomplished when the company first purchased the rights to 18 of Anne Rice’s novels.
“What Rolin has done with these stories and characters, working so closely with Mark, as the steward of this universe, has exceeded the loftiest version of our expectations. We can’t wait to see where this creative team takes the series from here and know we are walking alongside an incredibly loyal and passionate base of fans who feel as strongly about this material as we do,” McDermott exclaimed.
Rolin Jones, who recently renewed his overall deal with AMC Studios, gave credit where credit was due to the phenomenal cast and crew working on the project and the fan base that refused to let this series go quietly into the night.
“Thank you to the brilliant casts and crews of the first two seasons that got us to this day. Thank you to the rabid, beautifully unwell fandom that scaled the castle walls to get us to this day,” the show creator said, concluding his statement on a comedic note.
“Sincere apologies to the family and friends of actor Sam Reid, for the possession that continues to this day. Monsieur L extends his promise to return his body upon cancellation (may that evening never come.)”

The novel The Vampire Lestat follows Lestat as he recounts his mortal life in 1800 century France and the events that led him to become a rockstar in the 1980s music scene. Having rewoken from a deep slumber in New Orleans, he sets out to tell his story with chart-topping hits and a tell-all book.
The Season 2 finale of Interview with the Vampire sees Lestat and Louis reconcile with their time in New Orleans and the Paris trial that led to their 70-year separation.
No filming dates are confirmed, but rumors suggest the new season could go into production as early as this fall.
Interview with the Vampire is joined in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe by two additional series: Mayfair Witches (Season 2 is currently in production) and the recently announced spin-off The Talamasca.
